Sarah Jane Achtem grew up dancing on the island. She has trained extensively at various studios on the lower mainland and competed successfully in numerous competitions. She began her dance training in hip hop and street styles under the direction of Liz Vaesen, Roberta Bierman, and Ross Writanen. Sarah quickly added ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, contemporary, and tap to her repertoire. Sarah Jane has trained in Canada and the United States learning from top industry professionals such as Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Ian Eastwood, Shannon Mather, Blake McGrath, Kelly Konno, Mia Michaels, and Kenny Wormald. She furthered her physical and academic training while studying at iNdustry Dance Training Program in Vancouver where she worked with top choreographers such as Yoshi Hisanaga, Josh Beamish, and Amber Funk Barton, to name a few. Since returning to the island, Sarah Jane has been busy teaching ballet, contemporary, and hip hop. While not teaching, she can usually be found hanging upside down in an aerial hoop or hammock.
