Sam and Meaghan

Sam started dancing at the UVic Ballroom Dance Club, and during a year on co-op in Vancouver, started dancing West Coast Swing. He has been travelling around Canada and the US competing and training, and has completed the Swing Literacy Development Method (SLDM) Grade 1, a swing teacher training program run by the Canadian Swing Champions, Myles and Tessa. He has augmented his swing dancing with ballet and music theory training. Sam has been teaching West Coast Swing for over two years, including private lessons, guest workshops, and group classes in Victoria and Nanaimo. He loves supporting students in their learning and tailoring lessons to fit individual goals and learning styles.

Meaghan started out as a studio dancer, training in ballet, jazz, and contemporary, completing a professional training program at San Jose Ballet School (now The New Ballet School) in California, before working as an apprentice with Canadian Pacific Ballet. She started learning ballroom, salsa, and swing at the University of Victoria, and in 2015 she fell in love with West Coast Swing. She has taught group fitness, dance, and yoga classes over the past 8 years and loves helping students learn. She now competes internationally in West Coast Swing competitions and teaches a monthly Yoga for Archaeology class with the Archaeological Society of BC.
